For the past
few years, parents throughout the United States have been working individually or in small groups on programs to identify, prevent,
and treat cardiac emergencies in children. Frequently, this work is begun after the death of a child, and, just as often,
parents are unaware of work(s) along the same lines that are being done
elsewhere.
There is no group more powerful than motivated, well-informed parents. When such a group mobilizes, no time commitment
is too great or hurdle too high for them to overcome. The goal of the Parent Heart Watch (PHW) is to form a state by state
network of parents dedicated to reducing the often disastrous effects of cardiac arrest in children. PHW will make it
easier to share information, support one another, and cooperate in support of programs that could have country-wide effects.
